PIPS COLLAPSE NOT FOR POLITICAL GAIN |
Open Letter from Cllr. Brian Collins
Caithoairleach Kells Town Council
Dear Sir,
As the local elections approach some candidates short of imagination on how to move our communities forward in these difficult times or lacking a true sense of vision for this County have resorted to smear, innuendo and fear mongering to garner a few votes. One of these candidates has now decided that to gain further political advantage and a few headlines they intend rake over the muck of the pyramid scheme known as PIPS (People in Profit Scheme). I was told at the time I would be foolish not to invest in it. I immediately decided that anything that paid 2% interest per day was too good to be true and stayed clear of it. It collapsed a few months later.

MEATH NEEDS ITS OWN CREMATORIUM |
Kells Area Thursday, 9 April, 2009 The Labour Party Candidate for the for Meath County Council in the Kells Area, Cllr Brian Collins, has said that a crematorium should be included in the plans for the new regional hospital. "More and more families are opting to have their loved ones cremated. More and more people would prefer to be cremated than buried. This choice is no longer the exception to the rule. However the limited access to cremation where families at a time of grief have to travel into the Dublin traffic chaos creates an unnecessary burden at a deeply stressful time. I think the obvious answer to this is that Meath should have it's own crematorium and that this should be looked at in the context of the new regional hospital."

KILMAINHAMWOOD IN THE DARK |
Kells Electoral Area Friday, 30th January 2009 Cllr Brian Collins, Cathaoirleach of Kells Town Council and a candidate for Labour in the County Council Elections has called for a sensible approach to public lighting across the County.
“There are busy and populated areas of the County that have no public lighting. In Kilmainhamwood there is no lighting alongside the Nursing Home or the Edenwood estate. There are also areas of the County where a mixture of public lighting and private commercial lighting have streets lit up like airports. Clearly a sensible approach in the difficult economic times we face is for a slight dimming of the public lights in such abundantly lit areas. A drop in power of 5% or so would create significant savings which should be ring-fenced and invested back into providing lighting where none exists at all.”
