Addressing the Kells Branch of the Labour Party, The Cathaoirleach of Kells Town Council, Cllr Brian Collins, has said that the issues that will be central to next years election will be about a future transformed post-M3 Kells and will not be about issues that have dominated past elections or indeed dominated the Council’s agenda for the last four and a half years.

Cllr Brian Collins of Kells has said that with the massive upsurge in unemployment in the country it makes little sense to have so many skilled workers sitting at home while so much work could be done in the community.  He said the time has come for a transformation in the Community Employment scheme to allow people who have been forced into unemployment to keep working.

WHERE IS THE NEW REGIONAL HOSPITAL? PDF Print E-mail
Cllr Brian Collins of Kells has called upon all four Government T.D.s in Meath to answer the simple question what has happened to the plans for the Regional Hospital for Navan.

According to Cllr Collins no meetings within the Department of Health or the H.S.E. have taken place to progress plans for the hospital one iota since the announcement was made that Navan was to be the site of the new hospital.

U-TURN ON PAYMENT TO TEENS WITH DISABILITY WELCOME PDF Print E-mail

The climb down by Mary Hanafin, on her plans to prevent 16 and 17 year olds claiming the Disability allowance, is very much to be welcomed. This was one of the most mean spirited cuts in the budget and I am delighted that the Minister saw sense.

Under her original proposals, the monthly disability payment of €791.20 was to end for those aged 16 and 17, to be replaced by the domiciliary care allowance, worth just €299.60 per month.
